Sagebrush Diving vs. D.U. Hilltoppers (at El Pomar Natatorium)

Sagebrush Diving took a small squad of seven divers to Denver University to compete against the largest team they will face all Summer, the D.U. Hilltoppers. While the Hilltoppers used 20 divers to quickly dash the hopes of the Sagebrush divers in the team competition (Hilltoppers won the meet hands down, 106 to 54), Sagebrush Diving had a break-out day nonetheless. Highlighting all the results was Jess Andrus, who captured the all-time and all-age-group team record for 6-dives in a dual meet with a total score on 1-meter of 230.475 pts. She also won 3-meter uncontested. Backing up Jess was the 16-18 girls foursome of Sami Rose, Julia Northrop, Susan Richardson, and Ashley Nance, all with very solid scores on 1-meter (sweeping the top three spots), and then going 1-3-5 on 3-meter. Rounding out the scoring for Sagebrush was Nick Siegler (1st on 1-meter and 2nd on 3-meter) and Jordan Andrus (3rd on 1-meter and 2nd on 3-meter). It was a refreshing sidenote for Coach Kev to watch Laura Waggoner and David Decker coach. Laura just retired from coaching swimming, and now does DIVING exclusively (a big win for the sport of diving), and David is an exciting, young coach that has a great future ahead of him. Congratulations, Hilltoppers, on your big team win, and congratulations to Sagebrush for winning all the events they were entered in. Keep it up.
