THE WEEK OF September 2, 2002
Updates: FLIP-A-THON has been postponed until next September 13 (YEP, Friday the 13th) and will be the 2nd Sagebrush Diving Flip-A-Thon. Our goal is to have 30 divers participate, and our fundraising goal is $5,000.00 to help us purchase two brand-new short-stands so that our 1M's will be forever on concrete. Get involved... this event is something you will remember the rest of your life, and your name and efforts will be stamped on this facility for the rest of your life... well, for at least the next decade or more.
Diving updates: Alex Berger and Kaitlyn Murphy, what dolls!!! They finally got their 002d's off 3M. I'm totally psyched. Bryce is sorta on injured reserve. Bad shoes... Andrea Esa is fully recovered from wisdom teeth issues, and is bringing ice cream to Coach Kev on Friday, right Esa??? Welcome to the team, Hannah Feuerstein, who joined the developmental squad on Thursday, and a back line-up on 1M/3M and did her first real back dive (201c). More to come... Amy Garrison is back after a short illness (cold) and she, of course, gave it to Erin Perko, who is now off for a couple days (Ha!)... Katie Griffith (Hello?!?)... Emily Hanson, stunning back dive pike on Thursday, and wonderful 3M list of voluntaries at USAFA... Shonna Litton, welcome to the team and to Colorado... Cassidy Lynch, great inward dive, and his back dive is starting to show signs of excellence... reverse dive is getting to be his best dive, with more to come. Jerry Molsberry is fighting a back problem, but is diving well nonetheless... landed his 5132d on 1M pretty well on Wednesday, and then ripped a 002d on 3M unlike anything I've seen from him (perhaps the back problem is helping?)... Jerry's platform diving is pretty nifty, to say the least. With a full JO list for 14/15 boys, he will be in the building phase for awhile, but it is exciting to watch. Nicole Molson landed her first 002d on 3M (back line-up)... WAYTOGO Nicole!!! Julia is simply continuing to dive outta her mind. Dropped out of a 203b on 1M today, and landed her first legal 5225d on Wednesday... starting to rip all twisters upstairs, which is a good sign of things to come. Kaitlyn Patz... no... KP... is back, and looks wonderful, I'm glad to say. Beautiful 101b, 201c, 301c, 401b, 402c, and standing 103c's on Thursday, and beautiful 001d and 002d on 3M. Continually harasses Coach Kev... she simply hasn't changed. Erin Perko has looked good the two times that I saw her this week but now has a bit of a cold (Thanks, Amz... but better to have at least one of this dynamic duo rather than ZERO)... get better soon, Erin. Abby Poulter is back after a short 2-week break, and will be working hard. Ben Raznick is landing his 201c and 203c like a pro on 1M and his 201c/301c looks studly on both 1M and 3M. Welcome to the team, Brent Reichman. Susan Richardson is getting back into the swing... quickly landed her 403c and 103b on 3M, and 103b, 201a, 301c, 401c, and 5122d vols and 104c/203c/403c opts... keep it up, sista. Sami Rose... nice week this week, with solid work on developing her 5223 and 5323d's and nailing her 104c, 203c, 303c, 403c, and YES YES YES, landing her 203b on 1M on Thursday (didn't look too bad for the first time).. also landed her 101b, 103b, 105c, and 401b on 3M. Leslie Simonton (not sure if I commented on this yet) landed all her vols on 3M (101b, 103b, 201a, 301c, 401c, and 5132d), and YES YES YES, she landed her first REAL back optional (203c) on 1M, and not too bad of one, either, which adds to her recently matured 104c. Nicely done. "Niko" Siegler was on injured reserve (feet were messed up from either a skateboarding or biking crazy accident), but he put in very nice 101c's and 401c's on 5M. Taylor Lee Traughber... YES YES YES... finally, a 201c that we can pull the trigger on in a meet. So happy for you, brother. Amber Utesch is still on injured reserve until mid-November (back). Brittany Vigil (Hello?!?)... Welcome to the team, Lindsay Walderman. You are good stuff. Pete Wethington did some great work on Wednesday to clean up his front twister, and corrected an important technique on his 401c on Tuesday. Jill Wierzba is beginning to get back into the swing of things. With beautiful line-ups on 3M both ways, and her 103c actually loaded correctly, and her 301c on Thursday (still gotta lotta work to do on that one, right sista?), she's headed in the right direction. Wednesday was the first blah competitive team practice in awhile, but we were on fire on the other days.
Shutdowns/Cancellations: No practice on Monday, September 2 (Labor Day). All other practices will be held as scheduled.
