THE WEEK OF August 26, 2002
Updates: Simply UNBELIEVABLE practice on Monday evening at Air Force... Leslie Simonton, Cassidy Lynch, Jerry Molsberry, Tyler Frazier, Emily Hanson, Julia Northrop, Bryce Engstrom, Sami Rose and Brandi Gonzales. What a party. First and foremost, the young-uns had a blast on platform... Tyler Frazier (8) and Brandi Gonzales (12) did line-ups and jumps on 5M, and both jumped off 10M. Jerry Molsberry (14) finished his JO list on 5M platform by putting in a LEGAL 105c. Leslie Simonton is 60% finished with her JO list on 3M (101b, 201a, 301c, 401c, 5132d, 103b), and has 4 optionals to land before she achieves JO. She'll get it. She also has two smokin' line-ups off 5M. Cassidy is starting to get the diving bug. Liked platform more than springboard (a diver after my own heart). Emily Hanson landed her 001d, 002d, 101b, 401b... and a 403c (piece of cake). Likes platform better than springboard... YES! Julesberg (Julia) put all her dives in, and absolutely RIPPED-SLICED-DICED a front line-up and front dive on 5M... unfortunately, we needed to keep her wrist happy. Sami Rose landed a couple dives on platform that she hadn't done since Summer 2001 (5M: 101b, 301c, 401b, and 403c). And, finally, there's Mr. Engstrom. Landed his 107c, 405c, 5235d, and made his first genuine attempt at a 5152d "in" (unfortunately, he didn't quite tuck up very deep on his square-out, and barely made it--- face first)... after recovering, he landed his first 5134d on 1M, and put his 5233d in as well. Totally great day...
Shutdowns/Cancellations: Meyers Pool will be shutdown the three most critical days of this week (Monday-Wednesday, the 26th, 27th, and 28th). So, since this is the week preceding Labor Day Weekend, I propose this... everyone is going to go to the USAFA for Monday and Thursday (depart Meyers Pool at 4:00p) practices... while it is a hassle for one week, I believe everyone will have a great time going down there, and it will be a great learning opportunity. Please please please... I need several parents with large reliable vehicles to drive us down... I will have my truck. We WILL have regular Thursday (USAFA and Meyers) and Friday (Meyers only) practice for all divers (developmental and competitive). NO SATURDAY PRACTICE DUE TO HOLIDAY WEEKEND.
