THE WEEK OF August 12, 2002

Updates:  What a great week this has been!!!  I think just about everyone has learned a new dive or two.  Sean Beach landed a 101c and ALMOST got a 201c, Alex Berger is nailing the dives that she knows and will be adding a couple new dives within a couple practices, Bryce Engstrom added a 5233d (1M) and 5235d (3M) and completed a 5142d (1M) as a prep for a 5152d (3M), Andrea Esa lost some wisdom (teeth removed), Tyler Frazier is a 302c, 402c, and 5122d away from being a 16-18 JO diver (he's only 8), and Tyler got his 201c and 202c on 3M, Amy Garrison is dangerously close to getting her 402c back, Dave Hanisch landed his 305c and 405c, and also landed a 5142d prep, Emily Hanson is back (that's all I care about... stay tuned), Holly Janson got her 201c and a 401b, and landed her first 103c (Yeah!), Caitlyn Kelly got a 5223d for the first time, Kaley Knafelc is gone (University of New Mexico) and will NOT be forgotten (EVER... since she gave all attendees a chocolate cupcake... yummy!!!), Phil Lahnert got his 201c (YES!), Erin Lionberger landed a 104c in Coach Kev's presence (I had only HEARD about it until Tuesday's practice), Cassidy Lynch is new, but already has 101c, 201c, 401b, 5223d, 104c, 202c, 302c (304c on 3M), 402c... not a bad two days' worth of practices, Jerry Molsberry landed a 203c again, Nicole Molson finally got a 101c!!! and a 001d on 3M, and is ready for a 201c, Kaitlyn Murphy is back (that's all I care about), Kelsy Nelson just moved up to the competitive team and has been diving for about a month or so, Julia Northrop landed a 105c on 1M, and hit a 5323d (5324d a couple times) for the first time, Erin Perko (I hear tell that she will be joining us again at the beginning of September... Yeah!), Abigail Poulter did a 001d off 5M and jumped off 10M a couple times, as well as she landed a 104c late last week, Ben Raznick landed a 105c, 404c, and 5132d on 3M, and his 201c and 301c are lining up nicely, Sami Rose is landing her 5223d again, and started work today on a 5323d... has all the rest of her dives in!!!, Leslie Simonton has her 104c solid, and is beginning work to add more DD, while building a full JO list on 3M, Nick "Niko" Siegler is adding adding adding... now has a 104c, 203c, 303c, 403c, 5231d, 5223d, and 5321d (will have 5331d soon), and is a blink of an eye close to having a 105c on 3M (how old is that kid again?), Krystin Tagaris did a 001d on 5M and jumped off 10M!!!!, Taylor Lee Traughber is close to getting his 201c and 301c... Amber Utesch is back on the boards, but not 100% healed (BACK), and finally, Coach Kev <sniff sniff> is getting rid of the little green shoe (as the divers know it)... he's got himself a big black Chevy!!!  Also, we announced a new Flip-A-Thon, scheduled to be held on Friday, September 6, 2002, in one-hour shifts.  Applications for the event are hanging on the wall by the bulletin board.  Please grab one and read all about it... See the Weekly Update of 7/29/02 to see what this fundraiser is going to help us build (the third picture!!!)... the fundraiser will help us put the two 1-meters on a concrete stand which makes our facility truly one of the best in the Region!!!  (I tell ya, we've come a long way!!!)

Shutdowns/Cancellations:  No practice will be held Saturday at USAFA.  All other practices will be held as scheduled.  Thursday's practice at the USAFA will be covered by Kevin (Mama Niko driving), as Julia (Julesberg) will cover the Thursday practices at Meyers.  Friday's practice is going to be a treat, with Noah Eckert making another guest appearance... might even dive.  No injuries this time Noah... I need a snowboarding partner in the Winter.
