THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 21, 2002
Updates: The 1M upgrade project has been approved, and movement should begin shortly. Great things are happening at George Meyers Pool, with the diving well renovation, making it the best public diving facility in the State of Colorado, and a complete renovation of the men's and women's shower facilities. What more could you want... great boards and stands, great dryland facilities, clean water to dive into, and clean showers? Other updates: Tyler Frazier landed his 201c on 3M again. Yes. Phil cleaned up his new 301c, and is really looking good for a 12-year-old (he is only 9). Erin Lionberger landed a beautiful 103b on 1M on Tuesday night. Cassidy nailed his 105c on 3M a couple more times, as well as his 404c on 3M. Then, he was ready for a new dive, and he dealt with it. 203B on 1M. Big dog dive. Nice. Jerry Molsberry landed a big dog dive as well, although he started the dive with a backward lean that almost put him on the lane line... Jerry got his first 405c on 3M. Very nice, dude. Ben Raznick put the 205c on his head (er... well... his shoulders) again. Nice. Brent Reichman, man, what a guy. He landed his first 105c on 3M, and his first 403c on 3M. Also solidified his vols on 3M. He even tried a 5132d on 3M, but forgot to dig on the square out. Ouch. Happy Birthday to Susan Richardson, who turned 18 on Tuesday. Oh yeah! Sami definitely has her 403c back, and it is yummy. Her 5223d was going pretty good this week as well; only a matter of time before she gets it back on her head on 3M. Niko was drilling his 201c and 301c this week. Taylor Lee tried his first 201c on 3M... very nice, just a bit over. Lindsay is just about ready for some new dives, including her 104c (she has it, but doesn't HAVE it), 203c, 303c, 403c, and perhaps a 5132d... just around the corner. Jill Wierzba... YES! Her first 203c was landed (over) on Tuesday night. Just didn't quite kick out right... no big deal. She'll have it soon. And then there is PETE...
Pete Wethington is officially the first diver to jump off the new 3M. The rules were this... the first person to jump off the new 3M had to christen the board with an attempt at a new dive, and he made it historic. Pete, with just a couple preps on 1M, went upstairs and landed his first 5132d, making him JO on 3M. What a stud guy... congratulations to Pete... and to Sagebrush Diving for having a new 3M.
Shutdowns/Cancellations: While Kevin will be out of town again this weekend (DU meet in Las Cruces, NM, all practices will be held as planned. Thursday's competitive and developmental practices will be covered by Noah, while Friday's and Saturday's practices will be covered by Julia Northrop.
