THE WEEK OF July 14, 2003

Cancellations:  Practices will be cancelled from Wednesday, the 16th, thru Saturday, the 19th, due to Zone Championships in Pasadena.  Seeya Monday, folks.  Thanks.

Updates:  After recovering from a long, HOT, Nebraska weekend for Region VI Championships, it was time to cool off in the Colorado heat (90's every day but one since we've been back, with Monday, the 14th, officially hitting 100F.  Crazy.  Great diving this week.  Saturday's practice went great, with Missy, Amber, Erin, Meili, Bryce, Jerry, and Cassidy attending.  The boys shaped up their tower lists nicely, with Bryce putting in the same dives, while Jerry and Cassidy added a bit more to their lists (Jerry a 5231d on 5M, and Cassidy a 5231d, 203c, 303c to his).  Just in time for Pasadena tower diving.  Bryce went to BYU diving camp all last week, and is back just in time for Pasadena training.  Jerry, Cass and Nick are diving outta there minds right now, with Nick putting the finishing touches on all his dives, while Jerry and Cass are training all four sessions in the two days we get to train this week.  The girls are doing some serious training... Amber is improving her command of the 205c/305c spinners, and has found her 105c(1M)/405c(3M) again.  Also, her 5134d was looking particularly good at the end of the week last week.  Julia is focussing on 1M since that is what she qualified for Zones.  Missy had a rough landing on her 203c on 1M on Saturday, which made her go REALLY quiet, but just before that, she was landing her first 404c's on 3M at Meyers, and had finally put her 201b and 301b on 3M... Yeah Missy.  Erin is ripping her voluntaries.  Meili has put the finishing touches on her 3M list for Zones... her voluntaries are looking tight, but her strength is still her optionals.  We've decided to back off the 5235d since the 5233d scores so well, but the rest of her 2 1/2's are looking good, and she's regularly finding her 303c up there, too.  Jules is desperately trying to get some height on her dives, and it seems to be working.

College divers:  Dave Hanisch is ready to go.  He has landed some key leadups (105b, 204b, 304b, 403b, and 5333d's on 1M), and has officially made a couple new dives (107b, 405b) although they need work.  Our next step is to finish these higher, increasing their potential to score in the tough Big Ten Conference.  Johnna Jaynes is FINALLY (Big Sigh!!!) getting the whole 303c thingy on 1M... which will only open a whole world of diving with a complete list.  Her 104c is nearly ready for 105c, her 203b is looking pretty hot, and her 403c is not landing in Utah anymore.  Her twisters are ready for some tweaking.  All her vols on 3M are hot... what is next?  You guessed it.

Developmental:  Mike Waterman and Dallas Smith are doing very well, progressing through most of the somersaults with no problems.  Michael even has a 5221d and 5122d on 1M... almost ready to take upstairs for 5231d and 5132d.  He also has a new 403c on 3M.  Dallas is getting the mechanics for 202c and 302c, but he is still struggling with 103c/402c (finding the out!)...

Cancellations:  Practices will be cancelled from Wednesday, the 16th, thru Saturday, the 19th, due to Zone Championships in Pasadena.  Seeya Monday, folks.  Thanks.
